Fano an ancient roman city, originally called "Fanum Fortunae", meaning "temple of fortune", is famous for its carnival which is the oldest in Italy and the third biggest city in our region. One of its distinctive monuments is the "Arco d'Augusto" built in the IX century A.D., ancient entrance door on Via Flaminia,a road that starts in Rome. The town walls are well-preserved and still standing for 2/3 of the original lenght. We suggest visiting the art galleries and the Archeology museum in the Malatestiana court, also tomb of the Malatesta family.

Gola del Furlo, 40 km
Gola del Furlo lies on the via Flaminia, and since 2001 it is a State-owned Nature Reserve and it is considered a natural paradise. The rock walls of the Pietralata and Paganuccio mountains are the result of the erosion carried out by the Cadigliano river, they rise up to the sky giving the gorge a unique and mesmerizing look. The Natural Reserve is inhabited by Golden Eagles, Peregrine falcons, eagle owls, wolves and roe deers.

Grotte di Frasassi, 80 km
The Frasassi Caves are magnificent carsic caves located near the city of Genga, in the province of Ancona, and they were discovered in 1971 by a group of speleologists. They are 13 km long and one of the caves is so big it could contain Miland's Cathedral. Inside the cave you can admire natural sculptures, stalagmites and stalagtites that were created in around 190 million years thanks to the erosion of the rocks. The temperature always lies around 14°C and the relative humidity is of about 100%.
